Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan Workshop 2024-25
A one-day workshop under the Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan was recently held at VPP’s
Guruvaraya Sadanand Maharaj Arts and Commerce College, Kondhwa Bk., in
collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University and the Students Development
Board. The event featured insightful lectures by Mr. Vishal Londhe, Assistant
Commissioner of the Social Welfare Department, and Ms. Tanishka Dongre, Sub-
Editor of Sakal newspaper. Additionally, Ms. Bhakti Pantawane conducted a selfdefense
demonstration. The workshop was presided over by Institution President
Jalinder Kamthe, with Principal Dr. Pramod Botre in attendance. Over 73 students
actively participated in the event.
The workshop was structured into four sessions. It commenced with a lamp-lighting
ceremony and tributes to Savitribai Phule, led by President Jalinder Kamthe and
Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vishal Londhe. In his inaugural address, Mr. Kamthe
emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment through physical, mental, and
emotional development to combat injustice and oppression.
Mr. Vishal Londhe delivered an insightful lecture on women's rights, laws, and
societal challenges. He encouraged female students to be mentally and physically
strong, resist negative societal norms, and stay vigilant. He also stressed the
importance of self-defense and legal awareness, praising Savitribai Phule Pune
University’s Nirbhay Kanya Abhiyan for its role in boosting young women’s
confidence.
Ms. Tanishka Dongre from Sakal discussed personality development and financial
independence, highlighting how such initiatives help young women become more
confident, resilient, and self-reliant.
In the final session, Ms. Bhakti Pantawane conducted a hands-on self-defense training
session, demonstrating essential techniques, the use of protective tools, and physical
exercises to enhance safety skills.
Student Welfare Officer Prof. Sahebrao Borase introduced the dignitaries, while Dr.
Neelam Goyal coordinated the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sonali
Gholap and Dr. Yogita Kunjir. Also present were Principal-in-Charge Dr.
Vivekananda Sasane, faculty members Prof. Manisha Kakade, Prof. Mira Bade,
Prof. Pallavi Bhosale, Prof. Deepak Kamble, and Prof. Datta Chavan, along with
administrative staff members Suvarna Kamble and Vijay Doifode. Students from the
Earn and Learn scheme, including Dipali, Purva, Nahid, and Muskan, also attended.
The workshop successfully empowered participants with knowledge, confidence, and
practical skills to navigate challenges fearlessly.
